  5. ChemDraw Demo

  7. This section describes the differences between ChemDraw and the ChemDraw Demo.  You can choose the Help command from the Apple Menu to get help with ChemDraw. A 56 page manual is included with the complete version of ChemDraw.

The ChemDraw Demo is a fully functional version of ChemDraw with the following exceptions.   ChemDraw documents cannot be printed and ChemDraw structures cannot be cut and pasted into other documents.  In addition, ChemDraw documents cannot be saved with either the Save or Save As commands in the File Menu.

  12. Chem3D Demo

This section describes the differences between Chem3D and the Chem3D Demo.  The file Chem3D Tutorial contains the Table of Contents, Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 of the Chem3D manual.  Chem3D Tutorial is in MacWrite format and can be read in and printed by most word processors.  A 137 page manual is included with the complete version of Chem3D.

The Chem3D Demo is a functional version of Chem3D with certain restrictions.  First, the maximum number of atoms and atom types is limited in the demonstration version to 25 atoms and 4 atom types.  If you try to create more than the specified number of atoms, Chem3D will inform you that you have reached the limit.  Note that when Chem3D automatically adds hydrogens to newly created atoms, atoms will not be added if the atom number limit would be exceeded.

  18. Second, a number of commands are unavailable in the demonstration version.  Specifically:

  21. Copy Structure
  22. New Parameters
  23. Open Parameters
  24. Save Parameters
  25. Save Parameters As...
  26. Revert to Saved Parameters
  27. New Atom Type

Third, certain functions interfacing Chem3D to the rest of the Macintosh environment are inhibited.  While you can save a file in any format, you can only open files in the Chem3D file format.  Also, any Chem3D model placed on the Clipboard cannot be transferred as a picture to other types of documents.
